Wherever You Go, There You Are contends with the idea of memory over the course of a person’s life. My images trigger existing memories as well as capture new moments in a way that one would want or expect them to be remembered moving forward. They create visions of little rituals and what they felt like, reminders of the quirks of a house or town and those who lived there that made them feel like home, and flashbacks to the experiences had in these places that help shape a person into who they are.

By searching back through my own life and memories to photograph the people and places with which I grew up in New Jersey, where I am now in Miami, and everywhere in between, Wherever You Go, There You Are seeks answers to the universal age-old questions of growing up: Who am I? Where do I come from? Where am I going? Why am I here? What is really important? My images allow for quiet contemplation of my personal story of self-reflection and coming-of-age as well as a discovery of familiarity and guidance for one’s own experiences.

With influences ranging from Richard Billingham, Gregory Halpern, Sandi Haber Fifield, and Joel Meyerowitz to the presentational methods of Wolfgang Tillmans and musings of the book Photographs Not Taken: A Collection of Photographers’ Essays, Wherever You Go, There You Are creates both an intimate and universal portrait of a life lived and a life that has yet to be lived, finding beauty and peace in the mundane moments that, in the end, make up the majority of our time on this planet.
